another C. Jack Story...

....this one is funny.
Last summer we were having dinner with the Alamosa gang (Carl Jack, Eldon Morgan, and Jim Pearce). When the conversation turned to cutting Christmas Trees along the RR. Carl told of being on a heavy 2 engine westbound near Toltec when the train went into emergency. 3 drawbars came out and a couple idler flats turned into kindling wood. It appeared the cause of the train going into emergency was the conductor pulled the air from the caboose when he found a beautiful fir tree by the track nad wanted to take it home.
Now, Jim Pearce was the road foreman then. He got all bright eyed and started saying, "what?, when was THIS??, who was the crew??. Carl looked at Jim, and said,"you mean you never heard about that?..... well you still haven't." Jim got all flustered, everyone had a big laugh. Two points for Carl.
