I remember that day well. I was gainfully employed by the Lorain (Ohio) City Schools at the time. It was the first week of school. Shortly after I got home from work that day there was a knock at my door and there stood a young lady selling magazines to pay her tuition, or some such. In the course of her presentation she mentioned that she was from New Mexico. I asked where from, she said a little mountain town in the north you wouldn't know, Chama. I said I've been there, she said where, New Mexico. I said no, Chama. She said no one comes to Chama. I said I was through there on the train. She said trains don't come there anymore. I said it was a special train from Alamosa to Durango, stopped in Chama and we got off and took pictures. At that point she screamed ooh my gawd you're one of those and ran away. OK, I made up that last part, but she
was pretty amazed -- well actually, so was I. Oh, and it may not have been that exact day, but otherwise its pretty much a true story.
