The Baldwin Specs for the Oahu Railway's first Baldwin engines in 1897 (an 0-6-0 and a pair of 2-8-0s) list 45lb rail. Later on, their mainline as 90lb rail (iirc) will heavy ties and generous quantities of ballast.
During the narrow gauge heyday (1871-1883), I tend to recall 35lb rail being the most common for the mainline ngs. At that time, it is also worth noting if the rails were iron or steel.
During the Depression, I recall most of the surviving C&Sng trackage as being in between medium weight NG rail with tie plates used in curves...but I don't have access to any of my references right now to verify this.
