Just recently I posted the 1930 census data for Gato (pagosa Jct) which included a gentleman that was the "RR Water Pumper" stationed there (see link below). Gato had a "Pumpers House" which was retired in 1936, AFE4141-1936. Lava also had a "Pumpers House" and the pump was steam powered in the early days and diesel later. The oil bunker is still there along with part of a pump. I think that I have found the outline of the pumpers house at Lava.

I guess being a pumper in 1942 wasn't a good position to be in. Was it the Pagosa Jct guy that was out of a job?
