Granger is about 10 miles from where my parents live / I grew up. I drove through the set over the summer (or maybe spring break) but they didn't have any of the railroad stuff in yet. They totally reworked downtown in that small little town for the movie. Granger is located on the Union Pacific's Waco Subdivision, which is the old MKT main line. There is a wye there for the old MKT branch to the rock quarries of Georgetown and from what I have been told the steamer used that why and the sidding there in Granger for the filming. (The UP keeps minimum maintenance up on the old MKT branch incase they are ever kicked out of Austin and can't use the MoPac branch from the Austin Sub.)

Here is some more information and a few shots of the engine in Granger. (I post under UP Wings there)
