You have no idea what it was like for those of us who walked away from "real careers in the real world" and committed ourselves to the C&TS. I have friends and relatives (especially on my wife's side) who to this day think that I am not a very stable or rational person for having done that. I have never been as scared in my life -- except maybe when I had that OBE and thought I was dead -- as I was in the late summer of 1973 when the bottom fell out of the economy. Now days its so common that we think nothing of it, but in 1973, it was like the end of the world.
