While Keaton made many excellent films, one of my favorites is "Our Hospitality", 1923. For it he had replicas made of early 19th century locos and carriages. He even laid really rough track. He also recreated an early 19th century bicycle, which he rides in the movie. It is one without pedals, just foot power on the ground. I believe he gave all these to the Smithsonian after filming.
One scene in the movie has a farmer throwing rocks at the Engineer of the train. He, in turn, throws firewood from the tender at the farmer, who then carefully picks up the wood and carries it off to his home. A great idea for free firewood. I wonder if Dan Markoff would be so willing to throw his firewood.
This movie has been shown on Turner Classic Movies and is available from them.
