Was NG rail ever ground/reprofiled like SG is today?

Jerry Day's discussion about MOW work in the 40's made me wonder about rail maintenance on the Narrow Gauge.

I've seen modern UP work crews putting a shiny new perfect profile on the MP,SP,and MKT lines here in Texas, but wondered if the D&RG ever did this. The technology might not have been around then, but I thought I'd ask.

I know there are plenty of pieces of rail along the C&TS that are worn on both edges, sometimes to failure, but did rail profiling happen on these lines? Might they have pulled up rail, hauled it to a maintenance yard and reground it in a shop?

Finally, how much difference in capacity would it make to a K-36 or K-37 pulling a load to have a properly shaped railhead?
