Carl, the frame on #1 should be fine. It has a crack in the saddle that should be easily repairable.
Weight should not be an issue on the MCRR. I haven't seen the specs. but I am sure she weighs far less than the #9 Shay.
The attached Google map link indicates that the Coahuila Y Zacatecas is located in hilly if not mountainous terrain. Accordingly, I'd bet she would be in true form strutting up a grade. Chama? Not really! The "K" class engines should protect their home turf!
Regardless, I'd like to see the #1 under steam. She is a "deckless" engine, and simply the type that should be restored.
