Thanks for sharing your 70's video. The black tank engine shown, was actually standard guage and is long gone. #9 has been re-lettered in appropriate font to its West Side Lumber heritage. The Water tower shown by the saw mill has been relocated to North Station. Incidentally, this was an actual tower from the Bevier and Southern RR, located west of Macon, Mo.
I am confident that Mogul #2 will run again. Several of us have contributed funds toward purchasing a new boiler which was near contracted status. The recent upgrades to the boiler on #6 required that the #2 work be deferred.
You are correct that the #1 has never run on MCRR rails. In his book Central American Holiday, author Gerald Best had the photo below and some specs on her sister engine, the C. Y Z. #2. #1 is indeed a big engine. The running gear and tires look good. The boiler shows good barrel thickness and strong stays. To give you some insight as to the size of #1, attached is a photo showing her boiler mounted on an Alamosa built flat car. Although it is 1897 vintage, I'd bet that the #1 would be quite at home pulling the 4% up to Cumbres.
