Biggest issue to overcome is...Shay #12 is not owned by the CRRM, but by the Ashbys. It is being stored at the CRRM after it's trip from the Loop. It is operated occaisionally to keep everything limber, It will run this weekend, the 14th & 15th with West Side Lumber lettering.
It is nice to dream, but if you are serious about operating #12 on the C&TS, contact the Ashbys at the Royal Gorge Train to see if it is feasible, then talk to the powers that be at the Cumbres and Toltec and see if they would go along with it.Then figure out the logistics and finances to do this. After jumping through all those hoops you will realize where all us "nay sayers" are coming from.
Good Luck,
