The Western Railway Museum hosted an ARM national conference a few years ago and several of the visitors commented that we have some important coupler hardware lying about.
I expect that anything used in the traction world will be smaller and lighter than what was used by main line equipment. Perhaps narrow gauge equipment was in fact similar.
