I wasn't going to get into the nuts and bolts of all this, but from where I sit, we(Russ I should say) can invite any number of folks, but the bottom line here is it takes some MONEY to pay for them, otherwise the train doesn't even run. Russ has taken it upon himself to try to make this one-of-a-kind train possible by going out on a limb to charter it, and now he needs support in the form of riders, who then help pay for the guests that are NOT PAYING. So without the non-volunteers paying for a ticket, there is no train the way I see it.
This is why I sent Russ 50 of our First Train to Toltec videos, as a bit of incentive. The videos are valued at $30.00 so if you donate $50.00 to the cause(which covers one 1970 Volunteer), you are really only out $20.00 cause you will also get the video. My hope is that it helps Russ get a few more riders.
If you don't want to do that, send me $34.95(includes S&H), and I will send the $30.00 to Russ for the dvd. This gives folks another option to spend only $30.00 if they don't want to spend $50.00 as a donation.
Based on the C&TS situation with the bridge and other circumstances that Russ pointed out, I think he is has tall order in trying to pull this off, and thats why I wanted to help out a little, since I won't actually be there this year to see it.

PS The video was picked because we rode a work train that was used to move debris(rocks) that were on the track that were discovered during the Rotary run of 1997. We also did a special 2-engine photo freight with snow on the ground in that video. So like 1970, our video dealt with a blocked railroad in more ways than one. You can check out a preview on our web site if you want to sample 60 seconds or so.
