Working on a 3D model of both of these cars for some HOn3 models I'm 3D printing.
I have found excellent documentation on the Class 3 Billmeyer and smalls cars, but the rebuilds of the 3A variety leave me with some confision.
In the first edition of A century Plus 10, its noted that the 3A rebuilds involved cutting the "porch" off the cars and adding automatic couplers and grabirons in compliance with 1902 ICC.
The folio provided for the 3A car seems to indicate dimensionally that this was not the case, and that the cars were stretched to be the same length end to end as the original Class 3's
Class 3A Length over Frame - 25' 11 1/2" Porch Included - car ends held back
Class 3 Length over Frame - 25' 11 1/2" Porch removed - car ends slid outward
The inside length of the 3A is noted in the same folio as 23' 6", which seems to match the inside dimension of the class 3.
Anyone have any images of a 3A rebuild? or someway to confirm which way is correct?
