Thanks to everyone for contributing to this thread. As noted in the root post, we're trying to track down everyone who helped significantly in the rescue and rehabilitation of the railroad during the Summer of 1970. And as JBWX noted, a comprehensive history apparently hasn't been written yet, or at least hasn't gotten any publicity.
With only eight weeks to go, we're under the gun to get invitations out a.s.a.p., and your help tracking down these volunteers - and adding names to the preliminary list - is MUCH appreciated!

p.s. As to Earl Bell's participation, it seems reasonable to me that if he and his associates at Scenic Railways were interested in eventually running the railroad that he probably did come to Chama in August, 1970, and that he paid several people out of his own pocket - or from Scenic's bank account - to help save the railroad so that there would be something there for them to bid on. This is just a conjecture on my part
