473's Bumblebee Paint

December 31, 2001 09:46PM
473 was actually painted in Bumblebee colors well before the San Juan was discontinued.
She was still painted that way during the days when the D&RGW was forced to continue service between Chama and Dulce after the end of passenger service on the division. 473 and combine #212 were the regular equipment on the run, as I recall.
Until 473 was shopped during the Bradshaw era, 473's brass bands were still visible on the sand dome, under black paint. Look closely, modelers. You'll see them.
Happy new year.
