Farmington Branch Standard Gauge power

I'm sure there's someone out there who an fill me in on how the Rio Grande brought in power used on their isolated standard gauge Farmington line. I presume locomotives came over from Alamosa partially disassembled. Were there clearance problems with the two tunnels and/or truss bridges on the Durango line. Were the standard gauge locomotives scrapped when the Farmington Branch was converted to 3 foot gauge - or were they brought out the same way they came in.
