Its the little brother of 4449, another Fireless cooker!!!
I used to joke the Daylight was a fireless cooker, cause it never seemed to smoke and therefore looked like a fireless engine.
I wonder if this is one of the Fireless Engines that was at the Indiana Power and Light in Indianapolis. My dad shot one when he was riding behind a Hudson from Cincinnati to Chicago, and we have a brief movie clip. The plant was just west of the Union Station in Indy(may still be there I don't know).
As I remember these things get a charge of steam from some house plant, and are good to go for several hours. I guess I was thinking that this one might have been from Indy, since it was in St. Louis, not that far away, although the logic could well be flawed!!
Cute though isn't it.
Yes 1522 would be great for Alamosa. That is one of the loudest engines I ever heard, and if it was working a 3% grade, well the wow factor would be extreme for a long period of time. We did a video on 1522, but I never got around to converting it to dvd.
