Great picture of the "feedwater heater." Very curious and neat at the same time.


And you're quite right about the injectors heating the water. There have been studies that show the water will reach near boiling temperature by the time it enters the boiler. That was one of the original selling points as to why injectors were better than Crosshead Pumps back-in-the-day.

As to the Disneyworld tour guides, I wouldn't put too much stock into what they say. A friend of mine went a couple of years ago and was told the 4-6-0 was built as a 4-4-0 and later was cut up and had the extra drive axle added.
