In Randy Hees' comment about SPC 13, I noticed links to several interesting websites. One is www.pacificng.com, and I find that to be a fascinating source of information. One item there is about the National Locomotive Works, and there is a builder's photo of the Pioneer a 2-4-0, built for the 'Dayton, Sheridan & Grand Ronde RR' of Oregon. Attached is the photo, greatly reduced in size for this website. What I am curious about is what appears to be a non-lifting injector mounted on the crosshead. It seems to have some sort of mechanical linkage. Is it just mounted in an unusual location, or is there some sort of pumping action?
