The CRRM was also involved in saving parts from 0573. In 2008 I hauled a riveted tender air tank out to Odgen with my pickup and car trailer. The CRRM swapped the tank for assorted hard parts from the burned 0573. I hauled back caboose ladders, brake wheels & staffs, end railings, bolster parts, partially burned end sills w/hardware, partial draft gear, to list a few. These parts will eventually go on the CRRM's D&RGW long caboose 0585, which is scheduled for restoration. This was made possible by Henry Reynaud, a long time Museum supporter and benefactor. Henry flew in from San Francisco. He and I climbed into a 9' high pile of parts from the burned caboose and gondola. This with the help of a Ogden Museum worker using an ancient, wheezing fork lift. As an aside, the CRRM would not survive without people like Henry, who stay in the background but come foward with help when the CRRM needs some.
