Re: The line is cleared to Silverton!

Work trains will be going out as early as tomorrow but may not need to go to Silverton yet.

Our first passenger train to go through the canyon will be the Presidential Photo Train on May 1. It will go to the Silverton Wye. Getting off to photograph the train coming through the cleared slides should reap some fantastic shots! The river and the falls near Cataract Canyon should be running really well then also!

The opening date of regular passenger service to Silverton is May 8. We call it Silverton Salutations and we'll have a second section leaving 15 minutes after the 461 leaves at 8:15am. Characters in period dress will be on board to portray Victorian and Pioneer folks. Mrs. Camp's Town Ladies & Gents will greet the train's arrival at the Silverton station. The public is invited to join us for a complimentary continental breakfast in the Silverton Depot as we await the arrival of the first train!
