John; One interesting detail I failed to mention in my earlier post is that boiler taps, straight, taper or staybolt, be they 1/2" or 1 1/2" dia.
have 12 threads per inch.
Makes sense when you study it. If they weren't that way the large sizes would end up with about 1/2 a thread in the boiler sheet thickness.
