Yeh, Jim I kinda had the same thought, that at Skagway the effort to truly scrap out something wasn't really worth it if you could use the hulk for rip rap. or find a modern use for the metal in the area. I wonder what they did with the boiler? I can see Kevin's point that the boiler may have been damaged, but it sorta surprises me that they would bother removing it from the frame vs. sending it out to the deadline like 19 and 20. I've notice that the wood inside 20's cab looks like it was on fire at some point. Was it in or near the roundhouse at that time? What all was in the round house fire?
Also getting a long ways from the original topic, I've noticed in the SVRy roundhouse fire photos that 19's fireman's side running board was badly kinked in a couple places presumably by falling timbers. In one of the photos the running board has been removed for repair.
