I just read the sad news that Henry Luna has died. Henry was one of the original members of the Pacific Locomotive Assn. and served in a number of positions there through the years including President.
Henry was one of the most liked persons in our hobby, he got along with everybody. So much so, that he was Excursion Director for the PLA in its early years.
This resulted in many rare, obscure trips, both over the S.P. , short lines and industrials. He was tireless and gently unrelenting in his quests for rare miles and odd motive power.
Henry & I were roomies for a week on one of John West & George Werner's trips to Guatemala & Salvador in November of 1975. I couldn't have asked for a better companion for the trip. He helped to make the trip an even bigger success with his engaging personality.
We lost one of our best ambassadors to the hobby. RIP Henry.
