The North Pacific Coast applied the following monogram to their locomotives.
This is often referred to as the Tri-Color Herald, the above drawing represents the most common design. Photographs show the colors themselves appear to change, elements of the design are also noted to change during repainting.
In the early days of the railroad, its prime backer Milton S. Latham had a private car and private locomotive for himself. The car and locomotive were adorned with Latham's monogram, for the locomotive it was etched on a Nickle Silver medallion which was affixed to the locomotive's cab.
