Russo,
I am working an engineering contract job for a company near the intersection of Garden of the Gods road and 30th in Colorado Springs. Ends in April/May timeframe, so I hope I can find more local work after that. Ironically, the group I am working for is actually based in India..... I am about a couple of minutes drive from GotG.
We got quite a bit of snow last night up in Gleneagle (south of Monument) where I live. It was pretty wild for a while. There was a foot and a half drift across my driveway this morning. Earlier in the week we had temps in the 60's. Spring in Colorado is never boring.
Festus Haggin (Ken Curtis - one of the
Sons of the Pioneers) and Hoss Cartwright were my favorite TV characters growing up. I guess I appreciated the fact that they were a little naive, generally tried to do the right thing, and they cared about people. They also got into some big messes, but that is what happens in real life whenever people are involved. Growing up in rural Kansas and working in an auto repair shop during high school, I came across some real interesting characters..... nuff said. The Rock Island section crew used to drop in for an afternoon break sometimes (we had the cheapest coke machine in town). At that time (just prior to the RI bankruptcy) one of their main jobs was to push the spikes back down into the rotten ties on a regular basis......
One of my favorite episodes of Gunsmoke is when Festus heads to "Pratt County" (my home county) where his relatives (one of them played by John Astin) are fighting over what is supposed to be a stash of confederate gold. They are dumber than he is........
