When I was a kid in Kansas we used to go fishing on the Ninnescah river. The river was mainly populated by catfish and carp, but occasionally you got a decent fish out of it. One day my mother pulled a rather colorful but large goldfish (what we call glorified carp) out. We kids kept it in a large washtub in the basement for quite a while along with the usual assortment of tadpoles and crawdads that we would bring home.
