The tramline is the one from the Mayflower Mill to the Mayflower Mine that Bill describes in his post above the last switch back on the road. The upper towers of the tram line have been knocked out by avalanches, but the lower ones are still standing with the cable lines intact and are still supporting ore buckets. The upper workings supported the remains of the Mayflower boarding house until 1978 when the surface structures burned. The upper tram house survived, but was in terrible repair. There are several excellent photos of all this in the Rainbow Route. The lower tram house is part of the Mayflower Mill tour that is open during the summer months as is the entire mill, a remarkable survivor of Silverton's mining days. All of the equipment including tools and spare parts is still inside the mill, down to the calendars on the wall from when the mill last operated in 1991. The Night Passage scenes were shot in and around the lower tram terminal.
