Sorry for mis-spelling "jacket" (brain fart). What I find really interesting, with this photo, is the strong contrast between the running boards, framing around the compressor, and cab, which are quite obviously black, and the boiler jacket, for which if I was looking at the photo for the first time with no previous knowledge of the subject, I would come to the conclusion that it was a different, lighter color.

It is interesting to note that at least a few of the mudhens seemed to have green boiler jackets around that time. In Dennis O'berry's book, "The Mudhens", There are pictures of both #454 & #455 stored in Alamosa in 1930 with "freshly painted green boiler jackets" by Otto Perry (Otto was damn accurate with his notes!). I also recall seeing, some years ago, a color print of a mudhen (#462?), from around 1940, with an obvious green jacket.

If #482 was painted that way in 1933, it was indeed very short lived, for the next page in the book shows the #482 with an obviously black boiler jacket in 1940.
