In 1975, I was on Tennessee Pass with two friends and my 11 year old son. A D&RGW crew gave us a cab ride in a GP40 leading 5 others. When the engineer asked my son if he had any questions, he wanted to know where the toilet was. Engineer was an old head who had worked the Zephyr and the fireman was a young black guy. Was the first black person I had seen working for the D&RGW. He showed my son where the "head" was and asked if he wanted to use it. My son said no, he just wanted to know where they went when they had to go.
