I only learned of the Aligator farm a few months ago when my brother mentioned it in a conversation of things to do in the San Luis valley besides the sL&RG. Many years ago(1956) we stopped in at Fort Garland on our way home from our first adventure in NG land. My brother 2-3 years old tripped on a step and fell splitting open his forehead. So he doesn't want to remember that attraction. Closer to home on that trip we paused in North Vernon, Indiana where there was a Baltimore & Ohio 2-8-2 in steam and my mom took a photo of my brother being held by my dad and I in front of the engine. We rarely did that type of photo.
In the photo my brother has a big white patch on his forehead from Ft. Garland, and thats what I always remember about the photo---Ft. Garland. Of course back in 1956 you had other attractions like NG steam running everyday or so, plus there was the Narrow Gauge Motel operated by Bob Richardson, which was fun for us kids too!
