I have driven that grade a few times and explored most of that area. One thing I can tell you....DON'T drive the desert after a rain or snow! The mud will fill the fenderwells until it is not possible to turn the wheel! Thats if you can even keep moving. While your there check out the Bradshaw Mountain railroad. Very Coloradoy at the top and it had switchbacks including one with a turntable! Hope you have as much fun as I did. JP
