Hello once more -
A couple of days later - I'm not sure of the exact date, but it was in late September - I
went south of Antonito to the trestle where a horse thief named Ferguson is reported to
have been hanged. It's just north of milepost 286, and is commonly referred to as either
"Ferguson's Trestle" or "Hangman's Trestle":
The roads get pretty bad south of there, so I headed back to Antonito and then west on highway 17. There's an overlook that gives a good view of the Los Piños Valley, so I waited there for the train and then raced ahead to get a shot as it passed the water tower.
IIRC, these last two shots were taken the same day as the first one, above, but clearly the train is different. I presume that the caboose, rider gon and boxcar had been chartered from Chama to Osier and return, and that the locomotives exchanged trains at Osier and the passenger cars returned to the towns they came from. Is this correct?
