The biggest issue with trucks is the capacity. Not all trucks are created equal. You can alter a bolster or the brake rigging, but you can't maintain a 30t capacity with 8t trucks.
The biggest difference between cars with a 3'7" wb and a 5' wb is that the truck bolster is typically 3'7" from the end on a car outfitted with
shorter truck and 5' on the car with the longer truck.
