C&TS and the Standard Gauge.

June 07, 2016 05:58AM
My question is other than when 463 came in from California and Gene Autry's Ranch, via the then Rio Grande Standard Gauge does the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad have any transactions over the broad gauge line much any more? Or is it transported through other modes of vehicular devices.

Question number two if the tracks into Alamosa were to be dismantled would it effect how the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad does its daily seasonal transactions or would there be no issues at all?

What I view is that most locomotives that are transported to this remote location come in on a lowboy trailer (T-12) or a long flatbed truck (goose#5). But I don't see everything that goes on.

In short does the survival of the C&TS depend on standard rail service now or in the future?

Just Curious

Still a Student,
