Just a note that the restoration team at the NCNGRR museum has completed the dismantling of D&RGW stock car 5672 and are in the early stages of reassembly. This 1903 built car is being taken back to circa 1910 period when the safety appliances were added to the car. This will effectively eliminate the many changes that were made to the car during its 1926 rebuild to include the additional five cast block supports to the body bolsters, the heavier standard gauge couplers and cast buffer blocks and the four twelve foot oak splices added on each end of the center sills that helped give additional support to the new couplers. The cars air brake system will go back to a split system that was originally on the car and the needle beams moved back to their original positions just below the side door frame vertical supports. In short the underbody bolsters and framing will be very similar to our 1899 AFC built F&CC box car 507. I'll keep the NGDG posted as we progress. John Christensen
