IMHO, that would have to be a pretty expensive photo op to cover the cost of not only operating the train but paying a pro-rata share of the cost of the third rail and presumably VERY expensive dual-gauge switches
*. If so few fans were interested in the Dec. 4 snowplow train that it had to be canceled, how many would be likely to pay for the train you are describing? Even Once?? Frequently enough to pay for itself??? Realistically, IMHO, we should enjoy the photos which have survived, and focus on preserving that which it is practical to preserve and not squander our resources by trying to re-create every little detail of a railroad operation that is no longer economically viable.
OTOH, if you're talking about re-creating
one dual-gauge siding near the wye, in conjunction with returning passenger service to the Antonito Depot, then maybe it's worthwhile.
