The building labeled Union Staton is relatively new and is an office building whose teneants included "Grand Valley Transit", the local bus company. It is not a railroad owned building and is NOT for sale. Only the real depot is. Alas, it looks fairly good outside but is quite trashed inside. The remnants of a second floor and the supporting beams are crudely cut out. It smells like transients were living inside. It is going to take a lot of money to do anything inside. That is likely what is scaring buyers off. The last owner was going to do a micro-brewery and restaurant.
The Grand Valley has its share of high unemployment and lack of funds. Many businesses are just eaking along. Many tenuous stores have closed, and yet, the new "Hooters" opens today. Go figure! There are other signs that things are slowly getting better. Oh so slowly!
