Charlie,
Above is not quite correct. The 498 did take the first train
to Farmington on June 3rd and again later. Here is a brief summery.
May 28. 476 and 478 took a freight from Alamosa to Durango in one day.
This is the day John West shot and he posted photos above
June 3. 478 pulled at Farmington turn.
This was the day we saw it
June 4. 483 and 493 head a freight from Alamosa to Chama.
June 4. 498 ran Durango to Chama.
We chased this as far as Gato
June 5. 483 and 493 ran Chama to Alamosa.
June 5. 498 ran Chama to Durango.
We shot 498 depart Chama, then did 483&493 to Cumbres
June 6. 478 headed a Farmington turn.
Next series started here on the 13th.
June 13. 483 and 493 ran Alamosa to Chama, etc similar to first freight apparently.
