Problems with open access to railroads - SG incident with ng implications

July 27, 2015 11:59PM
Hi,

Over on RYPN, there have been several posts about an ex-NYC 0-6-0 that was damaged by a runaway covered hopper. The police have found out that a 13 year old boy was playing around the car and apparently kicked off the brakes.

The car rolled downhill and did serious damage to the 0-6-0.

It points to the POSSIBLE need for a closed covered storage area for some of the C&TS rolling stock.

Utica, New York is not Antonito or Chama so I think this is something to keep in the back of the mind.

From the railfan point of view, the fencing off of the Durango yard is very sad but from vandalism, it might helps out.

FWIW
