Earl nailed it!
After doing a little research I found it.
This pic can be found in RGS story vol IV pg 490.
Caption reads
During early autumn of the last year for regular operations on the RGS- on September 5, 1951-Ed Hayley and Dick Kindig again made a trip to southwestern Colorado for more action photographs of the RGS. Railroad artist Phil Ronfor accompanied Ed and Dick on this trek into narrow-gauge country, and the three men were making the most of this jaunt. A train consisting of five gondola loads of coal had been made up in the yard at Rico, ready to be transported over lizard head pass and northward. The leased D&RGW Mudhen on this train was no. 452, often used by the RGS. RGS caboose 0400 brought up the rear, with the conductor and rear brakeman riding inside. This short train had just left the northern and of the yard at Rico, and it was rolling across the grade crossing at highway 145, a short distance out of town. The trio of railfan photographers gathered their equipment and sped on to their next favorite photo location, at Burns Canon.
Kudos to you Earl for remembering that so well.
