Yes I remember that thread. Also isn't 476 DOA as well. That would be a Chile Line Engine but a lot of folks would love to see an operational K28 on the C&TS before seeing it in Espanola.
Here's an idea: Lease them the 494 or 495, and if they restore it to service put it in the contract that the C&TS gets to use it for 20% of its service days as part of the lease. That would be nice rent instead of cash, and would allow a new engine to operate on the C&TS without the C&TS paying for the restoration.
I would rather see this type of museum in Chama or Antonito, or even Alamosa where it could do some good for the railroads already in existence.
