Eliminero,
No matter what is done or said on this forum, someone has to disagree. What is more western than a split rail fence? Most of the contemporary split rail fencing is cedar. It is more rot resistant than pine or fir and weathers nicely. Did you see what passed for fencing before this fencing was installed. It consisted of 4 foot high yellow posts with chains. nylon rope, or "crime scene" tape strung between the "stanchions". Two strands of chain, rope, tape running horizontally. No way would this keep visitors off the right of way. Plus, it looked like an after thought. A determined visitor can also bypass the new fence, but volunteers are stationed around the loop to protect the visitors from hurting themselves. YOu need to take a look at this completed fencing, it relly looks good and adds to the overall appearance of the Museum. The Museum moved to Golden in 1959 and this type of fencing was common in the Denver area.
