Greetings:
Did the N-C-O Ry. run sleeping car service? I should know the answr to this question, but at the moment I can't give a conclusive answer.
However, all the time tables I have for the years the N-C-O operated from Reno to Lakeview show daytime schedules. Typical is time table No. 29, dated January 1, 1913. The daily northbound Lakeview Express (except Sundays) left Reno, Nevada, at 8:45 a.m. and arrived at Lakeview, Oregon, 8:35 p.m., with a 28-minute stop at Madeline (3:20-3:48 p.m.). The southbound Reno Express left Lakeview at 7:05 a.m. and arrived at Reno at 6:55 p.m. with a layover at Madeline from 11:55 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. That makes the trip ten minutes short of 12 hours! That sounds like one long day - but I would make the trip at the drop of a hat, if I could!
So, unless there was a short-time change in schedule, it looks like the Pullman cars were used as parlor cars and not sleepers.
