Boerries,
I enjoyed my trip and will do it again as I indicated but C&TS is also seasonal and has 64 miles of railroad to operate with less than a quarter of the passengers that WP&Y gets every season. Less abuse on the track from trains traversing the line but far less money coming in. More passengers also means more cash especially at the prices charged by the White Pass. I am not trying to come down on you or a railroad that has great scenery and seems to be extremely well run but I do think the prices are high. Perhaps it does have a large part to do with the cruise ships getting a cut as John suggested but I still don't like the price. I will ride again and in talking to everyone I meet about Alaska, I tell them that they absolutely
MUST take the train.
Thank you for sharing your love of this fine railroad and the great website you have created (I especially loved the steam/rotary pictures you posted earlier this year). I have visited it many times and I appreciate your willingness to share your thoughts and insights.
