Don't remember the exact year, early 60's? On Eastbound RMRR Club Excursion in May, Conductor Al Lyons & Brakeman Myron Henry worked Durango to Alamosa. They were suppose to "dead head" home next morning, riding Trailways Bus. I was driving back to Durango, so after eating at Alamosa we jumped in my car ahd headed West, got to Durango about 11:30 PM (they did get paid for this DH, regarless of the mode of transportation). Think they were rested in time to work a freight next day. Staying in Alamosa until next mornng, would have missed out on another days pay.
The passenger crew that had worked the Excursion train from Alamosa to Durango, was "deaded home." as the Club's trip ran to Silverton & back the 2nd day. Passenger train mileage was split up between the Alamosa and Durango boards.
