Yes, I know that NATO invoked article 5 of their charter. I also have seen that several member states have been qualifying that commitment, by issuing statements like "We are not at war with the Moslem world", while waiting to see what our government actually plans to do.
Will the US being held to a higher moral standard than those sleazebags who blew up the WTC? Yes, and we damned well should be. We condemn the killing of our innocents? Then we had better do our best to ensure that we don't kill theirs, ESPECIALLY purposely.
Yes, there IS a difference between naked aggression and self defense. Self-defense simply does not include the killing of innocents, or of non-combatants. Neither does justice. And yes, I'm sure Mohammet is weeping at the injustices being done in his name, just as Christ must weep for all those things done in his.
Which hint should I take? That your support of the first amendment mostly extends to that which you agree with? Or that blood thirsty revenge is better than legal and moral justice?
