When the newly purchased Oregon Lumber Company mill in Whitney, OR burned, it was rebuilt near the South end of the meadow. This necessitated a spur track be built to connect it to the SVR. While exploring this spur, I discovered a branch line that diverges to the West and heads into the mountains. I had explored some of this line at the upper end, thinking it ran down the mountain to a connection with the SVR. Looking at the actual RoW, the branch line diverges near the junction of two creeks which have eroded some of the RoW. Was there a wye at this location, or did trains just come into the spur traveling North towards Whitney, pass the switch and then reverse down the spur to the mill traveling backward to access the mill trackage?
