Hey Craig,
Did you get a chance to drive up to Waldorf and up the mountain? It is an amazing area and hard to believe a railroad went to the top. The Argentine Central was something. At one time....Lindsey with the Georgetown Loop, talked briefly about rebuilding the switchbacks part of the line out of Plume. The plan was to use the shays.
The Waldorf Mine, the Vidler and the Santiago (later California) mines, were the main ones served by the railroad. They were in the Waldorf area. There was also a mine near the end of the line on Mt McClullen. It became a "tourist trap" for the railroad as the Ice Palace. The water inside stayed frozen most of the year and became an Ice cave!!!
